The Star SP700 is an impact printer
Use bond paper — not thermal.The Star SP700 prints by striking an ink ribbon against the paper, so it needs plain bond paper (single-ply, or 2-ply carbonless for duplicate tickets). Thermal receipt paper has no ink and will print blank in this machine. If you've been getting faint or blank tickets, the wrong paper type is the usual cause.
You'll also need the ribbon.The Star SP700 is an impact printer, so it prints with an ink ribbon as well as paper. It takes the Star SP700 Black/Red ribbon (RC700).

What paper does the Star SP700 use? −
The Star SP700 is an impact printer — it uses 3" (76mm) bond paper and an ink ribbon, not thermal paper. Our fit is the 3" × 165' 1-Ply Bond roll, case of 50 rolls. (Thermal paper will not print in an impact printer.)
Can the Star SP700 print duplicate (2-ply) tickets? +
Yes — the Star SP700 runs 2-ply carbonless bond for a kitchen copy + a customer/record copy. Use the 3" × 95' 2-ply roll instead of the 1-ply.
Does the Star SP700 need a ribbon? +
Yes. As an impact printer the Star SP700 prints through an ink ribbon — it takes the Star SP700 Black/Red ribbon (RC700). Keep a spare with your paper.
Is this thermal paper? +
No. The Star SP700 is an impact (dot-matrix) printer and uses plain bond paper printed through a ribbon. Thermal paper is a different product and will print blank in this machine.
